Hobbies: Anything outdoors close to nature, Scouting, adventures and travel, gaming

What is your purpose to take up Project Orion?

Hmm... it was my idea?? Hehe...

What inspires you?

You can't protect things that you don't know and if we don't start now, will we ever? For we will keep finding excuses to put it off till another day.

There is only one species that can save the world, and that is Homo sapiens - us.

What are your aims for Project Orion?

To generate the next batch of ambassadors for Nature/Environment, to produce the future leaders to take on such global issues.

Are you an environmentalist? If yes, what have you done and what have you learnt from your experience?

Sort of, more of a generalist as I would call it. Volunteered on weekends in the Singapore Zoo for 3 years, nature guide for some intertidal shores, actively promoting nature and environment conservation in the Scouting Community.

I've learnt that there are always hits and misses, but if just that few hits could motivate a few more to continue and contribute to the field - it's Bull's Eye and worthwhile for all the efforts.

Muhammad Isa's Profile

Name: Muhammad Isa Bin Mohamad Sarif (20 )
Unit: Beatty Rovers
Occupation: Student @ Republic Poly
Hobbies: Outdoor activities (rock Climbing , trekking, cycling) , Listening to indie records, jamming, Photography

What is your purpose to take up Project Orion?

I hope to get new exposure to different sets of surrounding and work with people from different units and personalities. Project Orion is a conservation project of which people do not realise of how bad the shape of GAIA is currently. When I compare it to GAIA 10 years ago, I believe I see 2 different sides of the picture.

What inspires you?

Al Gore inspires me. Being the failed president of United States of America, he became a popular figure in conservation.

What are your aims for Project Orion?

My aims for this project are to help people realise (small scale) of how far by conserving will help us in near future. It will be a chain reaction after we did our part, and the villages then the bigger scale of community and who knows it might be the whole nation sooner.

What do you think about the environment currently?

I think the environment is already in a bad shape. We are feeling the heat of climate changes. The polar region is melting without us knowing.

Unit: Beatty Rovers
Occupation: Student @Republic Poly
Hobbies: Seeking adventure and thrills!

What are your aims for Project Orion?

My objectives are to seek opportunities to do what i can help. I want to explore, listen and experience.

What inspires me?
Scout of the World Discovery Workshop and a quote. 'Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved.'' -Jane Goodall

What do you think about the environment currently?

I think the environment is in bad shape now. Look around us and see what's left behind, everything developed but nature.

What service do you have to offer to save the environment?

Sharing is my interest. I will share my experiences to my family, friends, scout units and keep them aware the importance of environmental conservation.

Ashok's Profile

Name: Ashok Kumar (20)

Unit: Beatty Rovers

Occupation: Customer Service Officer at Night Safari

Hobbies: Scouting and playing football in my free time.

What is your purpose to take up Project Orion?

To me, it’s all about experience. To me, it’s a once in a lifetime experience and this kind of chances don't come regularly. Besides earning the Scouts of the World Award, I will definitely want to learn more from my peers and the team so that i can help in future activities.

What inspires you?

After finishing the Discovery phase of the Scouts of the World programme, I told myself to be more environmental and not to be too self-centred. And I'm also inspired by seeing my seniors like Sijie and Aru completing Project Sirius with their fellow peers and I also aimed to do the same.

What do you think should be done to the environment losses?

We should try our best to gain back what we have lost. Sometimes, it isn't too late to turn back.

Are you an environmentalist? If yes, what have you done and what have you learnt from your experience?

I'm neither there nor here. But i'm trying my best to be one so that Earth can be a better place to be in.

Melissa's Profile

Name: Heng Jee Min Melissa (19)
Unit: Griffin Rovers
Occupation: National University of Singapore ('09 Intake)
Hobbies: Reading, listening to music, watching videos

What is your purpose to take up Project Orion?

As I've never been on a Youth Expedition Project, or rather, any overseas project, apart from obtaining the Scout of the World Award, I hope to experience life during a YEP.

What inspires you?
God, my family members, especially my brother, and sometimes, just random acts by people around.

What are your aims for Project Orion?

I hope that Project Orion will be a success and that it will be one that can inspire others to take on similar projects because animals/the environment are so vulnerable to the actions of mankind.

What service do you have to offer to save the environment?

I don't really have much to offer, perhaps just remind my friends about how important it is to protect the environment, but I guess most of them already know that. Who knows, maybe after the project, I would be inspired to join an environmental group.
